Shito-Ryu Karate - One of the Oldest Forms of Karate

Shito-Ryu Karate is a form of karate that was created by a man named Kenwa Mabuni who was born in 1889. He was a seventeenth generation relative to the great warrior Kenio Oshiso.

When Kenwa was in his early teens he began studying self defense at a school dedicated just to the art of karate. He studied many different types and eventually began to form his own brand of karate that he called Shito-ryu.

Even though Kenwa was a weak child he became very skilled in karate and eventually became a grand master.  He then became a teacher and passed on his style of karate to the world. To this day Shito-Ryu is one of the four major forums of karate in the world.
